Calvary Church exists to proclaim Christ so that we may nurture and develop disciples who know the faith, live the faith, and share the faith. (Col 1:28)
Confession: Knowing the Faith
“By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ…” –Paul (2 Corinthians 9:13)
We understand that the Christian life grows and flows from our confession. God’s truth shapes us, unites us, and makes us one with Christ and with one another. Our goal is that each person who comes to Calvary Church will be trained and informed by the truths of God’s Word. Our minds and thoughts will be shaped by His truth.
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” –Jesus (John 17:17)
Conviction: Living the Faith
“Our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake”
-Paul (1 Thessalonians 1:5)
What we believe will inevitably determine how we live! It’s not enough to know God’s truth, but it must direct our daily lives. God’s power works mightily when our lives match our message! Our goal is that every Christian will be trained to live convictional lives – lives that are shaped through the means of grace God has given to us: prayer, worship, baptism, and communion.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Community: Sharing the faith
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” -John (1 John 1:7)
There are many things in life that are working to separate and isolate people and groups from one another. God didn’t save us to be lonely, but he saved us into a new covenant family who share their joys, heartaches, burdens, and laugh with one another. To that end, our goal is to be a community that not only shares our faith with one another through fellowship and serving, but to grow our community by showing the world what God’s love is truly like. We believe the true power of the gospel is demonstrated through our love for one another and for our community.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” –Jesus (John 13:35)
